How to gain muscle quickly has been one of the most frequently asked bodybuilding questions since young men became interested in gaining muscle mass.

The thought is, if I’m going to gain muscle I might as well gain it quickly.

This article will teach you the 4 things you must do if you want to learn how to gain muscle quickly.

1. Perform Less Than 10 Reps Per Exercise.

You need to understand that your body has two types of muscle fibers, slow-twitch and fast-twitch.

The only thing you need to know about these two muscle fibers is that fast-twitch muscle fibers can grow bigger than slow-twitch muscle fibers.

Note: Your weight lifting workouts MUST emphasize the fast-twitch muscles in order to achieve fast muscle gain.

You do this by lifting heavy weights for 8 reps. If you can do 10 or more reps in an exercise you are engaging your slow-twitch muscles and therefore hindering muscle gain.

By increasing the weight and decreasing the reps you focus your workout efforts on the fast-twitch muscles and you will start to gain muscle quickly!

2. Shorten Your Workout Time

Do not pamper yourself when it comes to building muscle. The more time you take to rest between exercises and the longer you drag out your overall workout the less effective your workouts become.

Building muscle is a war. You are waging war on your muscles forcing them to grow. This is especially true for hard gainer skinny guys who are fighting an uphill battle against their genetics.

The guys who have fast muscle gains are the ones who workout at a super high intensity level for a shorter period of time.

3. Perform Only One Exercise Per Muscle Group

Many bodybuilders are shocked by this advice. The common approach to muscle building is to blast each muscle with three or four different exercises for an hour at a crack.

Does this method work? Sometimes. For the genetically gifted few, maybe, who are probably taking steroids to help them work out more and recover faster. But this method will not work for the rest of us.

Overworking a muscle will not help it grow faster but it will increase that muscles risk of injury.

All your muscle really needs is a healthy spark to promote muscle growth. Provide that spark by working that muscle hard at a high intensity level for a short period of time and be done with it.

4. Perform Only 3 Sets Per Muscle Group

My how to gain muscle quickly philosophy is “Less Is More”.

Fewer exercises per muscle group + fewer sets per muscle group + high exercise intensity = fast muscle growth.

The biggest problem I see when I watch would-be bodybuilders performing 6 sets of exercises per muscle group is that their intensity level can’t be very high. They have to pace themselves in order to get through all six sets. Not good.

Don’t pace yourself. Work out as hard as you can for a short period of time and you’ll be amazed at the results.

How To Gain Muscle Quickly Conclusion

Remember, perform 8 reps max per exercise. History has proven this to be the optimum amount. If you aren’t struggling to finish the eighth rep add some weight to the barbell or dumbbells.

Shorten the amount of time you are working out. Perform one exercise per muscle group max, perform three sets per muscle group for maximum muscle gain.
